Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
